Synthetic opal inlay material. Crushed pieces 0-2 mm in diameter. 1 gram.  Perfect for pens, blade handles, wine stoppers, boxes, vessels and other inlay projects.

Insert grains into a small crack or knot, or include in resin to add visual depth and dimension to any project. 

Polymer Impregnated Synthetic Opal is composed of 80% silica & 20% resin. MOHS Hardness 4. Heat resistant to 130 degrees Celsius, resistant to thinner, methanol, acetone.

Tip for Inlaying Opal into Dark-Coloured Surfaces:

Certain colours of synthetic opal appear to change colour when placed on dark surfaces, like a dark wood or a black ceramic ring core, when wet (for example, when applying CA glue). To preserve the true colour of the opal, paint the inside of the recess or add a layer of mica powder before inlaying the opal.
